Florals for all mankind

Imagine my surprise when these bright things popped up on my doorstep early one morning. The boy and I are currently separated by several timezones, eleven hours and a few expanses of ocean; while I had to rush back home to start a new job in Sydney, he is continuing his travels on the continent for another month...

I always love getting flowers. It doesn't matter where, when or from whom - they always lift my mood. He wasn't always the flower-giving type. I did drop plenty of hints early on in the relationship.

My favourite used to be lilies. He would often drop by our brilliant local florist on his way home from work and pick up a bunch of lilies wrapped in beautiful paper. It was always a welcome surprise - but we now no longer get lilies because they are so toxic to cats. I was always a bit blasé about this fact until a horrible few weeks in England where we worked around the clock trying to save 3 felines from the same family that had suffered lily poisoning. Two didn't survive and it was heartbreaking. Lilies are so toxic to cats that they can be fatally poisoned just from grooming some of the pollen out of their fur. Suffice to say beautiful lilies now exist only in my imagination, and never in my house.

What about you? What are your favourites? What colours are you most drawn to? When have you been surprised with unexpected flowers?

Right now I'm enjoying real-life flowers, flowers on my dress, and maybe even one day flowers in the hair.

That's AMAZING that your friend has a full-size skeleton at gome, I have ALWAYS wanted a full-size human skeleton, when I move out I will definitely get one - right now I have no place for one! x

I love natural wildflower bouquets with even some grasses thrown in :) The last time I received flowers was on Mother's Day. I don't get them very often though, maybe I need to drop more hints ;)

What a sweet guy you have and your floral dress is lovely!

i was at a rose garden in my hometown today. i stood in the cold room staring at thousands and thousands of roses of every colour!
i love vanilla orchids- my grandparents used to grow them outside their house and the smell always reminds me of childhood holidays to their farm.
and daisies. i want to live in a cottage with a garden full of daisies!

i'm more of a wreath and leaf person myself. i love holly berries and pine boughs, things that smell of the forest. lucky for me, it is very much the season for that!

I love any bunch of flowers... From a florist or hand picked.... It doesn't happen very often so I would never complain...

I hope your next time together isn't too far away

Alicia - they are certainly striking!

Missa - Yes, I usually have to drop loads of hints too... I think this is just different because we are apart!

Brodie - I agree, daisies are awesome.. especially because you can make chains for your hair. That rose garden sounds incredible.. I love roses too.

Toosdai - you must be in heaven around Christmas time then :)

Welcome Home - thanks! I think often it's just getting flowers that's a bit thrilling, nevermind the flowers themselves.

Maggie May - thank you for commenting. Your wildflowers probably are different from ours, but I love our 'bush' flowers also!

Dahlias are my favorite. I love the tight arrangement of petals and the giant round heads that come in so many beautiful colors.

Whimsical Fashion-conscious Video

Hi!

I thought that you and the followers of your blog and twitter might find this video interesting!

http://bit.ly/7DxnHm

My actress in "Paper Birds" is wearing a vintage jacket from Paris, the skirt used to be a long vintage skirt from a flea market in Los Angeles but was cut to make it mini, the yellow tights were from a department store in Los Angeles, the shoes are from Paris.

The wardrobe was meant to reflect her whimsical and maybe even mythical personality and create a stark contrast with her environment.

The theme of the video is about the inspiration that can be found even in ordinary circumstances and that in giving back / sharing to the world - magic is created. A theme that is appropriate for the holiday season!

Thanks and Happy New Year,
David

P.S. I have still pictures if you'd like as well.

I love flowers too. I had no idea that lilies were that toxic for cats – I thought maybe they made them a bit sick! I love lilies too but won't have them in the house, of course :) I am glad one of those cats survived.

I am really impressed and inspired that you won't buy clothes for a year. I think that is one of the truly rebelious and noble endeavors I have ever heard of.

I required some information and was searching on Ask Jeeves for it. I visited each of the top ten pages that came up but didn’t get any relevant result... I then luckily found your diamond message board in the dirt and thought to check it out. This is what I was looking for

Cheers dudes at thevintageyear.blogspot.com and keep the good effort up.

I've always liked things like sand clocks, lava lamps, and the like to good of fair-minded dish out all at once staring at it as a form of catharsis. In a way, it helps me with meditation, to relieve stress and strain and just think in the air nothing. That's why since I was a kid, a substitute alternatively of dolls and cars I've always sedate more of such pieces like sand clocks, lava lamps, dulcet boxes etc. So I was most charmed when I base the 2-Laser + LED Spry Show Laser Top Gyroscope with Music Effects from DealtoWorld.com answerable to the Toys section. It's like a musical thump, a spinning better, and a light divulge all rolled into one. Which is spectacular amusement! The gyroscope transfer outing for in the air a minute. The laser light manifest with accompanying music makes this gyroscope a rather unequalled bauble that my friends be suffering with also been most amused with.

My dogs are also pretty curious nearly the laser gyroscope I got from DealtoWorld.com. They unceasingly occupy oneself with the gyroscope as it spins, although at earliest they kept barking at the laser slight boast, and also because it produces music. But after they got used it, they've stopped barking but due keep following the gyroscope whenever I start spinning it. Kids are also unbelievably amused alongside it. Off it's good to maintain diverting toys about the lineage so that you can desert the bit of frippery trifle with on while the kids are being amused or playing with it while you open to provide for scoff or fall heir to changed. The gyroscope is a particular such fool with with this purpose.

The gyroscope I bought from DealtoWorld.com has a dragon as a intent plot on it, and produces a taper show with red, obscene, and green colours. Take a look at the pictures I've uploaded of the gyroscope with laser luminosity show. The music produced from the gyroscope is not that expert but allowable adequacy to accommodate any chic customer to the house. The gyroscope is red and negro, making it look particular cool, and somewhat virile with that dragon imprint.

The music dismount attack make clear gyroscope runs on 6 LR44 batteries, which are replaceable anyway. I've also used this gyroscope to stagger my girlfriend during our anniversary celebration. I did the cheesy terror of decorating the pension latitude with roses and when I led her in, I started up the gyroscope as well so that the laser torchlight clarify produces a ideal effect. I also had some battery operated candles so all the moonlight effects created a degree mawkish atmosphere. She loved it, at near the style, to my relief. I also bought the candles from DealtoWorld.com. These days it seems to be my non-performance shopping put in return all gifts and ideas for romantic occasions.

Since Christmas is coming, this laser go down make clear gyroscope can maybe be a great Christmas favour looking for the toddler or methodical the mollycoddle! Alternatively, the gyroscope can altogether be a gracious addition to the ordinary Christmas decorations. I can take it as given placing it near the Christmas tree and maybe spinning it when guests reach in the house. Looks like DealtoWorld.com is getting my duty anyway again!
